BBM&L Inflation Day 2008

Inflation Day has come and gone for 2008. The day was blessed by dry conditions and lightish winds. Several local and rarely seen balloons ventured out for an airing for the people who had ventured out into the warm temperatures to watch.

As with most events, there are a number of organisations and people to thank. The owners of Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club for allowing us to use their superb site for the Inflation Day, LAAS International made a financial commitment to the meet again and we thank David Seex for their support.

Not having a 'home' as the museum does, thanks are also due to members of the BBM&L council who retrieved envelopes from the store prior to the day, and the local “keepers” of envelopes. Thanks must also be given to those that manned the gate, from an unearthly hour, and inflated over 60 envelopes for the museum. The whole day would not have happened without the organising skills of Caroline and Andrew Gibson and Tim Turner.
